Landscaping – its everywhere and affects everyone. There are better and worse ways to do it – and obviously our mission is to make it all sustainable. There are also important overlaps with other sustainability sectors.
Sustainable Landscaping encompasses all of the practices that help us to reduce the negative impacts of landscape maintenance activity, whether on an individual basis, or on a commercial scale as practiced by larger organizations.
This page on the NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation website outlines the elements of sustainable landscaping nicely. Our choices can have a significant positive or negative impact on water and air pollution, energy usage, health, native wildlife – and our wallets as well.
