Program Coordinator, Westchester Power

Anita Gitta

Anita Gitta joined Sustainable Westchester in October 2025 as a Program Coordinator on the Westchester Power Team. She joined the team with an interest in deepening her understanding of clean energy. Anita grew up and resides in Peekskill NY close to the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant and the Peekskill incinerator. Being exposed to environmental injustice in her hometown and other low income neighborhoods throughout the lower Hudson Valley and NYC has motivated Anita to become engaged in working towards improving environmental conditions for all people. She sees her role at Sustainable Westchester as an opportunity to contribute to environmental justice and climate resiliency in her home state of New York.

Anita received a B.A in Environmental Studies with minors in Sustainable Business and Economics from Fordham University. She is passionate about working on projects that allow her to contribute to improving ecological and communal wellbeing. She has experience supporting green infrastructure projects in NYC, hydroponic and aquaponic farming in NYC public schools, managing a community garden in Queens, and regenerative farming in Westchester NY.

In her free time, Anita enjoys cooking, exploring hiking trails throughout the Hudson Valley, and jumping on the Metro North to wander around NYC.
