Westchester County Municipalities – HeatSmart Westchester RFI is Live Now!

Would you like to bring climate friendly, cost-effective clean heating and cooling solutions to homeowners in your community? The next round of HeatSmart Westchester community campaigns is open for applications from Westchester municipalities!

The objective of  Sustainable Westchester’s HeatSmart Westchester is to significantly ramp up the rate of clean heating and cooling (geothermal and air source heat pump) system adoption and energy efficiency in participating communities in Westchester. By building and servicing a demand for clean energy options in home heating and cooling, the HeatSmart Westchester Program seeks simultaneously to displace high cost heating fuel while lowering local greenhouse emissions.

Consider applying for the next HeatSmart Westchester campaign! To be eligible, applicant municipalities must 1) be members of Sustainable Westchester 2) be located in the region impacted by the ConEd natural gas moratorium.

Community Request For Information

Sustainable Westchester requests submissions from Westchester communities – either (a) cities, towns, and villages or (b) a coalition of towns and / or villages (one joint application may be submitted on behalf of the applying coalition) – to participate in the next HeatSmart Westchester community campaign launching in Fall 2020 and concluding in March 2021!

If you would like your community to participate, encourage your community’s leaders to complete a Request for Information (RFI), which can be found below. Please click on the links below to download the RFI (PDF) and Attachments A and B (which are in Word format for ease of completion):

For questions regarding the RFI, we encourage interested communities to contact Lauren Brois at [email protected] or 914-242-4725 x122. Submissions are due by September 8 at 5 p.m. Responses to questions received from interested municipalities will be posted to this page.

Once the HeatSmart Westchester Community is selected, Sustainable Westchester will begin the process of selecting CH&C installers through a separate Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The selected CH&C installers will provide, at a minimum, competitive pricing, home CH&C assessments, collaboration in community outreach, and installation services. The selected HeatSmart Westchester Community and selected installers, with support from Sustainable Westchester, will develop and implement an approximately 20-week community outreach campaign with the goal of dramatically increasing the number of existing CH&C installations in the HeatSmart Westchester Community.

CONTRACTORS: Contact Lauren Brois (914-242-4725 x122) for information on becoming a preferred installer.
