Noam Bramson has been the Mayor of New Rochelle since 2006 and served previously for ten years on the City Council. Mayor Bramson has worked successfully to attract investment to New Rochelle’s central business district and to forge public-private partnerships aimed at job creation and economic growth. At the same time, Mayor Bramson has been a strong advocate for thoughtful community planning – spearheading the creation of New Rochelle’s first Sustainability Plan, promoting efforts to establish new public access to the Sound Shore, and adopting new land-use policies to preserve open space and strengthen neighborhoods.
On a regional level, Mayor Bramson was a member of the Government & Finance Working Group for the Regional Plan Association’s Fourth Regional Plan, as well as an active participant in the Mayors’ Redevelopment Roundtable and the Sustainable Communities Initiative. He was the Democratic nominee for Westchester County Executive in 2013.
Mayor Bramson is a graduate of Harvard University, where he received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in public policy. He is married to Catherine Stern, Ph.D., a clinical pediatric neuropsychologist. Their sons, Jeremy and Owen, are both pupils in the New Rochelle public schools.
