Steven Rosenthal is a formally trained interim executive director who currently provides leadership for Sustainable Westchester.
Prior to his career as an interim executive director, Steve was the executive director of Cross-Cultural Solutions, a widely recognized leader in the field of international volunteering. Steve served as the organization’s executive director since founding the organization in 1995 until 2016. Under his leadership, the organization grew from inception to mobilizing more than 4,000 volunteers each year working in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. The organization grew to employ over 350 full-time staff members working in offices throughout 16 countries and enabled volunteers to contribute over 2 million hours of work in education, health care, and community development. Cross-Cultural Solutions’ annual operating budget was approximately $15 million.
Steve served as the founding chairman of the Building Bridges Coalition, a project of the Brookings Institution, and as the chairman of the International Volunteer Programs Association. He also participated on the advisory boards of More Peace Corps, Atlas Corps, and Global Citizen Year. Steve is a Westchester native and a proud member of the White Plains High School Hall of Fame. He has been a resident of New Rochelle for over 20 years.
