CDG DEVELOPERS

What Can We Do Together?

Sustainable Westchester can partner with solar and other CDG developers to accelerate renewable energy adoption in Westchester County. With 45 municipal members, including the County itself, our extensive municipal relationships and established leadership position in the County allow us to efficiently and effectively mobilize communities in the adoption of community solar. We provide community engagement and customer acquisition at scale to developers whose subscription terms meet our criteria for community benefit. We offer community outreach, customer enrollment and help facilitate customer management. If you are a solar or CDG developer with projects approved in NYSEG and / or Con Edison utility territory, we can collaborate to promote renewable energy opportunities. Please contact us to discuss how we can work together. Please contact CDG@sustainablewestchester.org.

RFI Issued to CDG Developers

Sustainable Westchester is pleased to issue a Request for Information (RFI) for its ground-breaking new program – Opt-Out Community Distributed Generation (CDG) – to be launched in 2022. The purpose of the RFI is to identify CDG developers seeking channels for customer acquisition for community solar projects or other CDG assets in their pipeline in both Con Edison and NYSEG territories.

The Opt-Out CDG program will be fully integrated with the Westchester Power program, New York State’s first community choice aggregation program, that provides residents and small business electric customers in 28 municipalities clean energy supply. These customers represent over 110,000 households, about a third of Westchester County residents.

Leveraging Westchester Power’s opt-out structure will facilitate reliably meeting CDG developers’ needs for mass offtake at scale. The program will also enhance project economics, allowing developers to become eligible for NYSERDA’s newly proposed NY-Sun Inclusive Community Solar Adder.

Interested firms should request the RFI from CDG@sustainablewestchester.org with “RFI Request” in the subject line. RFI responses are accepted on an ongoing basis. For questions regarding the registration or the RFI, please contact CDG@sustainablewestchester.org with “RFI Question” in the subject line. For any other inquiries on solar or other CDG services, please contact CDG@sustainablewestchester.org.

Our Combined Impact

Sustainable Westchester has helped drive solar development in the region through a range of programs, in partnership with our member municipalities, our communities and solar developers.
Our past Solarize Westchester campaigns resulted in over 600 solar installations for participating solar contractors. It also directly led to improved permitting processes and local solar laws in seventeen municipalities. We continue to support local governments to access technical support to adopt comprehensive solar and battery storage laws.
Our community solar work has supported the development of dozens of new community solar installations in the region, both completed and in the pipeline.
We bring learning and progress from each successful program to inform and enhance the next. It is this level of experience and expertise that is available to solar developers with whom we partner.
